Flight operations suspended at London Southend Airport following the crash of a twin engines aircraft on takeoff.
Police have confirmed that an aircraft has crashed at London Southend Airport in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
Emergency services rushed to the scene following the incident, where the aircraft was reportedly engulfed in flames after takeoff from runway 05, then crash on left side.
As a safety precaution, officers evacuated nearby areas, including the Rochford Hundred Golf Club and Westcliff Rugby Club, due to their close proximity to the crash site.
The aircraft involved in the accident is reported to be a Beech B200 Super King Air, with registration PH-ZAZ, to Lelystad in the Netherlands.
Lelystad Airport is an airport 3.5 NM south southeast of the city of Lelystad in Flevoland, Netherlands. It is the biggest general aviation airport in the Netherlands.
