Hundreds of passengers have waited in queues for several hours at Manchester Airport because of a “technical failure” with the check-in system.
- UPDATE 0914 UTC Manchester airport system had an upgrade overnight which caused the failure this morning.
A total of 12 Thomas Cook flights were affected after staff have had to switch to a manual check-in system, leading to delays of about two hours.
Two flights at East Midlands Airport have also been affected, the airline said.
A spokesperson for Thomas Cook said: “We’re very sorry for the frustration caused to our customers at Manchester Airport check-in this morning.
“The airport’s system is back up and running and we’re working hard to catch up and get our customers on holiday as soon as possible.”
Also, Virgin, SAS, Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific flights are affected.
