Today, two Air France Airbus A350s declared an emergency. We take a look at flight AF374 which returned to Paris.

Only few hours after Air France AF29 to Los Angeles, operated by an Airbus A350, declared an emergency, another Air France A350-900 squawked 7700 (general emergency) on its way to Canada.

The Air France flight AF374 departed Paris CDG for a 9h50m flight to Vancouver. The aircraft (registration F-HTYH) declared an emergency while cruising at 38,000 feet.

Changed route

The flight turned around while starting to cross Atlantic after flying over Ireland. The pilots decided to descent to 10,000 feet, not due to a pressurization issue, but to burn fuel prior an emergency landing.

Electronic issue

As the airline is confirming a technical issue, our sources confirmed the crew detected smoke from electronic devices. Pilots then turned off all the non necessary electronics for the rest of the flight. The infotainment system was also experiencing issues.

The flight returned to Paris CDG Airport almost hours after departure. A replacement A350-900 registration F-HTYQ is now in flight, estimated to reach Vancouver with a delay of about 8 hours.
