Two Delta flight attendants allegedly arrested just minutes before their scheduled flight from Amsterdam Schiphol to New York JFK.
Friday November the 29th, between 07:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m, authorities conducted 445 breathalyzer tests on flight attendants and pilots.
The two crew members of Delta, a male and a female, enjoyed a Thanksgiving layover in Amsterdam but were found to be over the legal alcohol limit for aviation personnel prior flight DL49 to New York JFK.
The legal blood alcohol limit for a flight crew is 0.02 in the Netherlands. The male Delta flight attendant blew a 0.023, just over the limit. The female Delta flight attendant blew a 1.43, which is seven times over the limit.
In a statement, the Dutch police service said the female flight attendant had been ordered to pay a fine of €1,900 (US $2,000) after she was found to be seven times over the legal alcohol limit for aircrew.
Despite the incident, the flight DL49 operated by an Airbus A330-900 (registration N430DX) departed at 10:00 CET and arrived at 12:57 EST in New York.
