An Airbus A350 from on its way to Singapore diverted to Azerbaijan.
Singapore Airlines flight SQ301 departed Manchester today at 10:59 BST for a 13-hour flight to Singapore.
The Airbus A350-900 (registration 9V-SMB) climbed to 37,000 feet then cruised over The Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania.
After flying over the Black Sea, the aircraft entered Turkey’s, Armenia’s then Azerbaijan’s airspaces. Once over the Caspian Sea, the crew made a rapid descent to divert to Baku due to a medical emergency on board.
The flight landed at 19:51 on runway 34. The airline is expecting a new departure at 20:40 (local time).
