VIDEO Business jet forced to land without landing gears in Palm Springs, California

A small commercial jet having problems deploying its landing gear landed safely at Palm Springs International Airport Friday afternoon.

The plane circled the airport for nearly an hour, burning off fuel as a precaution. Video footage of the landing obtained by NBC first shows the plane descending as it approaches the runway.

As the plane hits the ground, it appears to smoothly glide across the pavement until it comes to a stop near the end of the runway.

Emergency services are immediately on the scene, with firefighters quickly tending to the smoking landing gear.
