A TUI flight to Cape Verde was met by fire trucks after it returned to Manchester Airport.
The TUI flight BY366 departed from Manchester Airport on runway 23L at 09:37 BST today for a flight to Rabil, Cape Verde.
The flight, operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 8 (registration G-TUMU) climbed to 29,000 feet on a South route but turned around only 30 minutes after takeoff.
The flight returned to Manchester after one hour into the flight, touched down safely on runway 23R and was met by fire trucks upon landing.
The aircraft vacated the runway and was inspected due to hot brakes. It then taxied back to stand escorted by emergency vehicles.
