Manchester Airport is experiencing heavy delays after a hole was noticed in the main runway 23R.

- UPDATE Manchester Airport says “We identified a surface defect on Runway One during one of our regular routine inspections. Safety will always be our top priority, so as a precaution, we are temporarily operating all flights from Runway Two while we urgently rectify the issue”.
- UPDATE Landing rate is limited to 10 per hour.
AIrport workers are currenly doing repairs since about 12.00LT on the runway 23R forcing ATC to activate the runway 23L.
Many flights are holding more than 20 minutes before being authorized to land.
Takeoffs are also delayed.
