Guinness World Records recognised an 86-year-old American woman as the longest-serving and oldest flight attendant in the world.
Bette Nash has been a flight attendant with American Airlines for the longest time. She has been working with the air carrier for 65 years, which qualifies as a Guinness World Record, the record-keeping organisation said.
Nash is a native of Boston, Massachusetts and she started her career as an air hostess way back in 1957—the same year as the launch of the first man-made satellite.
Nash has been with the airlines for so long that she has now been recognised by frequent flyers. “I fly hundreds of thousands of miles a year, but these are always my best flights when Bette is on the plane,” a passenger said.
She was free to choose any air route of her liking but for most of her career, she has been loyal to the New York-Boston-Washington D.C. shuttle, according to ABC. She chose the route and continues to prefer it because this way, she gets to be home every night with her son, who is said to have disabilities and, to this day, is cared for by his octogenarian mother.
