A private jet carrying two Russian foreign nationals has been held at the Yellowknife airport, according to Canada’s Transport Minister Omar Alghabra.
The aircraft is waiting for Transport Canada’s assessment on the matter. In a tweet, Minister Alghabra said, “We will continue to hold Russia accountable for its invasion of Ukraine.”
Transport Canada has said that it is working with the Canada Border Services Agency to review whether the flight has violated the recently announced NOTAM prohibiting all Russian aircraft from flying over Canadian airspace or not.

The private jet in question is a Dassault Falcon 900. The corporate jet with registration VP-CVS arrived at Yellowknife from Geneva on Tuesday. Canada has banned all Russian aircraft from its airspace in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
