Working in aviation is an exciting career choice. It can be tough working long hours, but the benefits are worth it. If you want to know more about what it’s like working in this industry, here are some facts!

You Need A Degree For Most Jobs

Most parts of the aviation industry require working alongside working professionals who hold degrees. There are some exceptions, like flight attendant jobs that require only a high school diploma or equivalent, and an associate’s degree in air transport or related topics might be helpful but it is not required.

Most pilots have to earn a bachelor of science degree from an accredited college with various courses finished and gain communication skills. A lot of people interested in working in this business apply for online aviation degree programs to get the desired diploma required for working in it. Some airlines will pay for you to go back to school if you agree to work there once your education is complete so this could also become a way around having expensive schooling upfront.

There Are Many Different Types Of Jobs Available

You have tons of job opportunities working in aviation. The following is a list of jobs you could have working at an airport:

  • Airport Operations Specialist
  • Ground Transportation Agent
  • Customer Service Representative
  • Passenger Assistance Representative (PAS)
  • Pilot
  • Airplane construction
  • Airplane mechanic
  • Flight attendant
  • Cabin Cleaner

Your choices seem to be endless if you want to work in aviation! Make sure you have the right educational background for whatever job you are interested in working. Also, make sure to get your commercial driver’s license or be willing to take out time and go through training courses to obtain this type of license if working behind a desk is not for you! The sky’s the limit when it comes to working at an airport.

It’s A Pretty Fast-growing Industry

Aviation is a very fast-growing industry, with many new jobs being created each year. When it comes to the transportation of goods and people, aircraft are an important part of it. Yup! That’s why working in aviation is a great career option to consider: not only does this industry generate lots of jobs (in fact, more than 500 thousand new ones each year), but also provides many opportunities for advancement.

Apart from transportation, it has a huge role in the military, where working conditions are very demanding and positions of great responsibility.

The Jobs Are Usually High-paying

A lot of jobs in the aviation industry are high-paying. Airlines have a requirement that flight attendants need to have at least a college diploma, and some airlines require working for two years in customer service or working as an attendant on the ground before getting hired by one of their companies. In addition, most pilots get paid overtime if they work more than 40 hours per week, making them earn hundreds of thousands every year depending on the airline company.

In order to become a pilot, you will also need extensive training with certificates like your Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP), which has commercial privileges including flying under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). It pays off big time in the end.

The aviation industry offers tons of high-paying jobs that require you to get a degree. It’s one of the fastest-growing industries and the fastest-growing one when it comes to transportation. Pursuing this career means that you’ll probably find employment easily so don’t miss out on this huge opportunity!
