Thousands of passengers are facing cancellations and delays on Sunday after a systems failure affecting all terminals at London Heathrow airport.
Departing passengers on social media reported “pandemonium” with information screens unavailable, while arriving travellers were stuck on planes or waiting in the terminal for baggage.
Heathrow is the busiest airport in Europe. The failure is affecting all four passenger terminals, both landside (before the security check) and airside.
Workers are using pens and whiteboards to manually list departure gates for flights.
It is unclear how long the system outage would last.
“We are currently experiencing a technical issue, impacting some of the IT systems at the airport,” a spokeswoman told Euronews. “We are working to resolve the issue as a priority and apologise for any impacts this may have on our passengers.”
