BOSTON — A unexpected plumbing failure aboard a United Airlines flight turned an ordinary cross-country trek into a soggy ordeal for several passengers Sunday evening.

United Airlines Flight UA2634, operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 9 (registration N17418), departed San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on Sunday afternoon, October 18, 2026, bound for Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

The journey was routine until the aircraft reached its cruising altitude of 35,000 feet over South Dakota. While en route, flight crew detected a leak originating from the mid-cabin lavatory. Water seeped through the interior wall paneling, pooling into the cabin space and soaking carry-on luggage stored under and around seats in Rows 7 through 9.

A flight attendant quickly intervened, locating and shutting off the mid-lavatory’s primary water supply valve to halt the flow of water.

Despite the in-flight disruption and damp belongings, the flight continued safely to its destination. The aircraft touched down at Logan International Airport at 11:15 PM EDT without further incident.
