Travel company Thomas Cook wants to start a new airline in Spain, with hub on Mallorca.
The airline will be called Thomas Cook Airlines Balearics and – according to Thomas Cook Holdings – won’t be a ‘standard’ leisure carrier.
Balearics will start operations with three A320s in early 2018. The airline will – in the beginning – only fly from Palma de Mallorca to the 8 following airports in Germany, operating for it’s sister airline Condor.

Starting dates have not been announced yet.
Seven Airbus A320s will be flying in Balearics’ fleet from 2018, three of them will come from Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium, which is ending operations in late October this year. Where the other four A320s will come from, is not yet known.
Christoph Debus, Thomas Cook Airlines’ CEO says Mallorca is their customers favorite destination with more than one million passengers per year.
This will be Thomas Cook’s 4th airline, the others are Thomas Cook Airlines (UK), Condor (Germany) and Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia.
German leisure carrier Niki (owned by insolvent Air Berlin) is currently operating most flights from Germany to Mallorca, but the airline is ceasing operations on October 27th, which may result in a too low capacity on the PMI routes.
