Thomson Airways, along with First Choice, have announced plans to increase capacity from Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport to Tenerife and Ibiza! The move to introduce new routes is part of the holiday company’s strategy to ensure customers across the UK can fly from their local airport and stay at the best hotels in some of the most exciting destinations. The new routes will go on sale today in line with the launch of summer 2017 holidays.

Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning for Thomson and First Choice, said: “Adding more capacity from Liverpool with the introduction of two new routes to Tenerife and Ibiza as well as new 10 and 11 night breaks to Palma, Majorca demonstrates our commitment to Liverpool John Lennon Airport and the local area. Expanding access to our portfolio of destinations and hotels is a key part of our overall strategy and will enhance the holiday experience for our customers.”

Andrew Cornish, CEO of Liverpool John Lennon Airport added, “Today’s news brings significant growth from TUI at Liverpool. Their latest commitment towards the Airport is tremendous news both for ourselves and for holidaymakers from across the Liverpool City Region who now have more choice to travel on holiday with Thomson and First Choice with the convenience of flying from their local airport. We really appreciate the support from local travel agents who have been particularly supportive of the Thomson and First Choice 2016 flights to Palma from Liverpool which starts in a few weeks’ time and who will now be able to offer customers even more great holidays starting from Liverpool next year.”

This is huge news for Liverpool as they will be able to generate more passenger numbers in the Summer for popular tourist destinations. It will be interesting to see whether they will get the same demand as in their Manchester operations.
