On March 30th, Qatar Airways’ first inaugural service from Doha-Birmingham took place. This mark’s Qatar Airways’ 4th destination within the UK adding to UK flights from Edinburgh, Manchester & London Heathrow. This service will take place 8x per week with their Boeing B787-8 Dreamliner, marking nearly 75 flights per week outside of the UK alone for Qatar Airways’ network of UK Flights.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “We are delighted to commence service to Birmingham, our fourth U.K gateway. This vibrant and economically powerful region represents an important addition to our worldwide network and is a testament to our commitment to the U.K. Passengers now have access to more than 150 global destinations, accessed via 73 flights per week from the U.K., facilitated by smooth transfers through our home and hub, Hamad International Airport.”

The British Ambassador to Qatar, H.E. Mr Ajay Sharma said “I was delighted to be able to travel on the inaugural flight from Doha to Birmingham.  The launch of this new route will open up further opportunities for both Qatar and the UK. Just like Doha, Birmingham and the surrounding area is host to a number of investment projects and tourist destinations that will appeal to investors and visitors. I am certain that this new route will successfully enhance the partnership between our two countries.”

Additionally, the large selection of onward connections on Qatar’s network gives our long-haul travellers access to more of the most popular destinations around the world from Birmingham.”

As mentioned earlier in the article, the route is operated by Qatar Airways’ Boeing B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. On this route, the configuration for the flights will be like the other UK destinations that they serve. 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy with the airline offering their latest In-Flight Entertainment with a choice of 3,000 options to choose from.
