Irish Low-Cost Carrier Ryanair have announced plans to expand their winter schedule for this year with a brand new route from Liverpool to Sofia, Bulgaria. The service will run 2x per week using their Boeing B737-800 aircraft. The service is due to start on 31st October 2016 when the winter schedule starts and will operate on Monday’s and Friday’s. The Bulgarian Capital has become the 4th newest destination out of Liverpool’s portfolio this year, with Vueling launching their Barcelona services earlier this week.
Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “We are delighted to see Ryanair add to its list of destinations served from Liverpool and particularly as Sofia is a City not currently served from here. This will further improve connectivity for the City Region, enhancing our links to the Capitals of Europe.”
Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Robin Kiely said, “Ryanair is pleased to announce a new twice weekly Liverpool winter service to/from Sofia beginning on 31st October, which is now on sale on the Ryanair.com website, with our full Liverpool winter 2016 schedule launching soon.
Ryanair have also stated in the press statement made by Liverpool Airport that their operations plan for the winter schedule of 2016 at Liverpool Airport will be released “shortly”. Passengers are able to book the Sofia flight on the 5th April 2016. This new route will benefit users of Liverpool Airport as they have new destinations to look forward to.
