Norwegian have announced that they will be adding 2 more Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner’s to their order-book, on a leasing basis. Both of these aircraft are to be delivered in 2018 and the airline aims to have at least 40 Dreamliner’s in their long-haul fleet by 2020. The leasing agreement has been made between Norwegian and AerCap, who lease over 1,000 aircraft to many different airline’s around the world.
In a press statement on Norwegian’s website, the CEO Bjørn Kjos said:
“In order to offer customers more routes and make our intercontinental operation even more competitive, we are dependent on more brand new cost-efficient aircraft. Our intercontinental operation is crucial to the company’s global growth and the creation of new jobs. The Dreamliner is a great airplane with high passenger comfort, long range, low fuel burn and reduced emissions.”
This comes with the news of Norwegian expanding flights within the UK. Norwegian has announced that they will be expanding more flights out of Manchester & Edinburgh to destinations such as Malaga, Alicante & Barcelona.
