The Airbus A350-1000’s new engine –the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97—has completed its first flight-test aboard a dedicated A380 flying testbed, Airbus said in a statement. According to the European manufacturer, the aircraft took off from Toulouse and operated a flight of 4:14 hours, during which the engine “covered a wide range of power settings at altitudes up to 35,000 ft. The engine’s operation and handling qualities were evaluated from low speeds to Mach 0.87,” Airbus said in a statement.
