An AFP spokesman declined to comment on the matter because it is still an ongoing investigation.
The aircraft had flown from Sydney last night and was not due for any operations until later this morning.
A Qantas spokesman has said the aircraft was scheduled for maintenance this morning.
The incident is not expected to affect other flights, although there were significant traffic delays around the airport earlier this morning.
