LOT Polish Airlines aircraft slid off runway after landing at Vilnius Airport forcing temporary runway closure.
Operations at Vilnius Airport are suspended on Thursday after a LOT Polish Airlines Embraer E170STD arriving from Warsaw slid off the taxiway shortly after landing, prompting authorities to temporarily shut down the runway.
The aircraft, operating as flight LO771, landed at 13:43 local time but veered off the paved surface and end of runway 01.
Images from the airport showed the aircraft resting on the northern side of the airfield, where several emergency and ground-handling vehicles surrounded the jet.

While no injuries were immediately reported, officials said that passengers were being safely disembarked from the aircraft as of early afternoon.
Vilnius Airport announced a temporary runway closure following the incident to ensure safety and to clear the affected area. The suspension of operations is expected to remain in place until at least 17:00, though further delays remain possible depending on recovery operations and inspections.
Lithuanian aviation authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the cause of the taxiway excursion, but the airport was under heavy snow at tme of the incident.
