Air China flight CA856 from Heathrow to Beijing was forced to land in middle of Russia following engine issue.
Moscow / London — Air China Flight CA856, en route from London Heathrow to Beijing, made an unscheduled emergency landing today in western Siberia, following a reported engine malfunction.
The Boeing 777-300 (registration B-2033) carrying 311 passengers and crew experienced engine forcing an emergency landing in Nizhnevartovsk, Siberia at around 8:17am local time.
Russian officials later confirmed the aircraft was carrying 267 people in total — including 20 children and the crew — slightly higher than initial reports of 265.
The airline later sent another Boeing 777-300 (registration B-2088) as rescue flight.
