A DHC-6 Twin Otter plane carrying 20 people crashed during takeoff at Tullahoma Regional Airport.
A occurred around 12:45 p.m. CT as the de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft attempted to take off from at Tullahoma Regional Airport in Tennessee on Sunday, located roughly 60 miles southeast of Nashville.
“Several have been flown by medical helicopter to surrounding hospitals, and others are being evaluated on scene,” the Tennessee Highway Patrol said. Two victims are confirmed to be in critical condition.
Footage from the crash site showed the aircraft came down in an open area near Old Shelbyville Highway, just off the runway. Despite the crash, much of the cabin remained largely intact.
The cause of the crash is not yet known. Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident.
