Known as the “Gateway to the Pacific,” Travis Air Force Base is one of the most vital logistics hubs in the United States military. Located in Fairfield, California—roughly halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento—it serves as the primary aerial port for movement to the Pacific Theater.
The base’s host unit, the 60th Air Mobility Wing, is the largest wing in the Air Mobility Command. Together with its Reserve counterpart, the 349th Air Mobility Wing, Travis handles more cargo and passenger traffic than any other military air terminal in the United States.
