A Boeing 777 to Lima just made a U-turn over Atlantic and is now returning to Paris.
Air France flight AF500 departed Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport this morning at 10:38 CET for a 12-hour flight to Lima, Peru.
The Boeing 777-300ER (registration F-GSQO) climbed out of runway 26R to 31,000 feet off France’s coast before it circled for a while and descended to 28,000 feet.
Pilots declared an emergency (squawk 7700) due to a technical issue with the aircraft. The flight is on its way back to Paris due to toilet issue at the rear of the plane.
The airline is confirming the diversion and already scheduling a new departure at 16:00 from CDG Airport.
