A Boeing 737 MAX 8 from Edinburgh to Tenerife turned around over Atlantic and diverted to Shannon.
Ryanair flight FR2969 departed Edinburgh, UK today at 06:00 GMT for a 4-hour flight to Tenerife, Spain.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 (registration EI-IKH) climbed out of runway 24 to cruising altitude of 36,000 feet then 37,000 over Atlantic.
After one hour and 40 minutes into the flight, the crew decided to make a U-turn towards Ireland and declared an emergency (squawk 7700).
About 40 minutes, the aircraft was on final approach to Shannon Airport and landed 2 hours and 25 minutes after the departure due to a possible medical situation on board.
At 10:00 local time, the aircraft resumed the flight and landed in Tenerife almost 4 hours late.
