A Boeing 787-8 returned to Madrid shortly after takeoff as the crew noticed issue with the engine number 2.
The Avianca flight AV17 departed Madrid to Medellin Wednesday, April 23 2025 in end of afternoon for a scheduled flight of 10 hours and 35 minutes.
The Boeing 787-8, registration N795AV, took off form runway 36L and stopped the climb to 20,000 feet after the crew reported problems with the right hand engine.

Pilots decided to shut down the Trent 1000 engine before returning to Madrid where the Dreamliner landed safely on runway 32L about one hour later.
