The easyJet flight U26327 departed London Gatwick Airport at 07:17 GMT to Luqa, located in the Southern Region of Malta.
The Airbus A320-200 (registration G-EJCF) was cruising at 35,000ft over France when the crew declared an emergency (squawk 7700).
