An American Airlines employee died around 9:30AM on Monday at Charlotte-Douglas Airport.
A ground handling employee at Charlotte Douglas International Airport tragically lost his life following an incident involving a ramp vehicle on Monday morning, according to airport officials. The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. when the employee was struck by the vehicle on the tarmac.
Emergency and medical teams responded swiftly to the scene after reports of the accident, but unfortunately, the employee was pronounced dead at the site. Initial reports indicate the accident involved a single airline ramp vehicle.
In a statement, American Airlines writes: “We are devastated by the accident involving a team member at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and our local team members. We are focused on ensuring that all involved have the support they need during this difficult time.”
