Air Canada Dash 8 made an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport with main landing gear malfunctioning.
An Air Canada flight made an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport on December 28, 2024.
The flight AC2259 (operated by PAL Airlines) departed St. John’s for a 2-hour flight to Halifax, NS.
The left main landing gear of the Dash 8 failed to deploy properly, causing the plane to tilt and the wing to scrape the runway 23, igniting a fire.
The flight was operated by a 24-year-old De Havilland Canada DHC-8-Q402 Dash 8 (registration C-GPNA).
No casualties were reported, but minor injuries occurred among the 73 passengers on board.
The airport was temporarily closed but has since reopened one runway. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident.
