A TUI flight en route to Germany was forced to make an emergency landing in Heraklion after an elderly female passenger felt unwell.
The TUI Boeing 737-800 (registration D-ATUO) departed Marsa Alam in Egypt Tuesday, November 26 2024 at 16:53 EET.
The aircraft was cruising at 36,000 ft when pilots requested permission for an emergency landing at Heraklion’s “Nikos Kazantzakis” Airport, which was granted.
An elderly female passenger felt unwell. Unfortunately, the woman passed away during the landing.
Despite the efforts of doctors and paramedics who rushed to the runway, it was too late to save her.
The 190 passengers on the flight disembarked in Heraklion, where they been accommodated before flying to their final destination, Germany, on Wednesday morning.
