Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai was forced to return due to an engine issue.
Malaysia Airlines flight #MH386 departed Kuala Lumpur Tuesday, August 20 2024 to Shanghai.
The flight was operated by an Airbus A330-300 (registration 9M-MTG). The aircraft climbed to 22,000 ft before reducing altitude due to an issue with one of the engines.
The crew declared an emergency (squawk 7700) and contacted ATC to require a return to KUL Airport.
The aircraft then entered holds to burn off fuel and landed safely back on runway 14L at Kuala Lumpur Airport 1 hour and 9 minutes after departure.
Two days earlier, another Malaysia Airlines Airbus 330 suffered an engine problem forcing the aircraft to divert to Alice Springs Airport in Australia.
