Two Airbus A320 aircraft were involved in a serious runway proximity incident in Mumbai, India.
On 8th June, an Air India Airbus A320 and an IndiGo A320 were involved in a runway proximity incident in Mumbai, India.
The two aircraft came close enough to give pilots a dilemma to land or to go around with no safe margin.
The Air India A320 with registration VT-RTS was on the take-off roll operating flight AI657, whereas the IndiGo A320, with registration VT-ISV, was arriving as flight 6E5053.
This occurrence took place at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) on Runway 27R, bringing a scenario of close proximity to the runway.
As seen in the footage, the IndiGo A320 touched down just within seconds of Air India A320 lifting off from Mumbai’s Runway 27.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India , has taken a quick action by de-rostering an Air Traffic Controller officer from Mumbai (BOM) airport following the Runway proximity incident involving two A320 aircraft (IndiGo & Air India) on the Runway 27R.
