A LATAM Captain dies during Flight from Miami.
LATAM flight LA505 from Miami to Santiago, Chile, diverted to Panama City 3 hours after takeoff.
In the middle of the flight, the Captain began to feel bad and asked his co-pilot to be in charge of the plane until it reached Panama.
The 56 years old Captain apparently collapsed in the lavatory from feeling unwell. The crew attempted to resuscitate but were not successful.
The Boeing 787-9 (reg. CC-BGI) has been on the ground for more than 12 hours, confirming reports from passengers posted on Twitter to LATAM requesting more information and support after being stranded overnight.
The pilot was identified as Iván Andaur , a professional with more than 25 years of experience.
In a statement, “LATAM expresses his most sincere condolences, highlighting his dedication, commitment, professionalism and dedication,”.
The flight was operating with three pilots, and the remaining captain and first officer performed a safe medical diversion to Tocumen International Airport (Panama City).
