Serbia will send official requests to Russia and NATO over an incident in which a fighter jet, presumably a NATO one, used a civilian plane of Air Serbia to enter the Russian airspace, Serbian President told the national television.
“The plane was not far from the Russian border with Latvia, we were warned to try to visually identify the plane next to ours. There was a military fighter flying just a kilometer below our plane near the border of Latvia. Apparently there was a NATO plane in the Russian air zone,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said.
“We will request additional information from Russians, but we will seek information from NATO as well. We’ll see, who is being smart enough to create civil aviation hazards with its fighter jets.”
Russian air traffic controllers asked the Air Serbia pilots to visually identify the fighter jet and report to them.
