Video captured a FedEx plane making an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday morning after a mechanical issue.
L.A. City firefighters responded to the airport around 3:50 a.m., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Officials said the plane’s left-wing landing gear did not deploy.
The Boeing 767-300F (reg. N146FE) was performing flight #FX1026 from New York-EWR. he aircraft went into a holding for 70 min.
It has been damaged when its left main gear not extended on landing runway 25R at Los Angeles LAX.
Sparks were seen as the aircraft slid along the runway, with the engine under the left wing scraping against the pavement.
One of the two pilots on board sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury while exiting the aircraft, according to Stewart. The other pilot was not injured.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation, Stewart said.
