An Air France flight en route to Paris from Tokyo was forced to make an emergency landing in eastern Russia on Tuesday, June 2, following engine problems, officials told Agence France-Presse.
“All 275 passengers and 17 members of crew are fine,” said Natalya Tsvetkova, a spokeswoman at the airport in Khabarovsk, some 800 kilometers (500 miles) north of Vladivostok.
The Boeing 777 is still on the ground at the airport and a technical team is in the process of inspecting it, she added.
Air France statement:
Air France confirms that flight AF275 on 2 June 2015 from Tokyo-Narita (NRT) to Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) decided, as a precautionary measure, to land at Khabarovsk airport in Russia (KHV) due to a technical problem with an engine. The aircraft landed normally in Khabarovsk at 14:30 local time (4:30 GMT).
While the aircraft was being checked by technicians, passengers were served a meal and then disembarked into the transit area.
Air France is currently arranging for the passengers to be flown to their destination as soon as possible.
UPDATE
After the technical incident is solved and for operational reasons (crew fliht time limit), the aircraft took of to Tokyo Haneda (HND) at 9.33pm.
Passengers will be accomodated before continuing their journey the next day to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG).
