China authorities have found one of the two black boxes belonging to the China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800 that crashed on Monday, according to an official of the aviation regulator.
- UPDATE CAAC official said in #MU5735 press conference that based on preliminary inspection, the black box found today is the Cockpit Voice Recorder. It has been sent to Beijing for decoding.

Recovering the ‘black boxes’ – devices that record flight crew conversations and data from the plane’s systems – is key to discovering why flight MU5735 plunged out of the sky at close to the speed of sound before slamming into a hillside.
