A brand new KLM Boeing 777-300ER was damaged during pushback at Amsterdam-Schiphol International Airport on 22 April.
The new Boeing 777-300ER, with registration PH-BVV, was scheduled to depart as flight KL895 to Shanghai-Hongqiao Airport via Seoul-Incheon International Airport. It was a cargo-only flight.
During pushback, the passenger bridge was still attached to the aircraft. After a push of about 10 metres, the problem was noticed. The aircraft sustained minor damage to its fuselage after the bridge struck it.
“On April 22, a Boeing 777 aircraft hit the bridge during pushback, which was in too low a position due to a malfunction. This caused minor damage to the wing of the aircraft. This damage is now being repaired,” said KLM spokesperson.
No passengers were on board the aircraft, as it was used for cargo only, and no one was injured in this incident, including ground personnel.
