New York based jetBlue has signed a MoU for 60 Airbus A220-300.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on Tuesday evening will also include 60 more purchase options for the aircraft type, which would bring the total number of A220s ordered by the airline to up to 120.
JetBlue will use the new Airbus aircraft to replace its aging Embraer E190 fleet, with deliveries starting in 2020 from Airbus’ US production line in Mobile, Alabama.
This comes just days after Airbus officially took over Bombardier’s CSeries aircraft programme. The airplane was renamed as A220 during an ‘unveiling’ event in Toulouse on Tuesday.
