An easyJet flight bound for the Canary Islands was forced to abort its journey shortly after departure this morning after the copilot became unwell in flight.
Flight U23385, an Airbus A320 registered as G-UZEF, departed Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) at 07:30 AM local time, headed for Fuerteventura.
Just 20 minutes into the flight, while climbing over British airspace, the flight crew signaled a medical issue involving the first officer. The captain made the decision to execute a U-turn and request an immediate return to Liverpool.
Air traffic controllers prioritized the aircraft for an expedited return, and the jet is currently on short final approach to Liverpool John Lennon Airport, where ground medical services have been requested to evaluate the pilot upon landing.
