BURGENSTOCK, Switzerland — A flurry of high-stakes diplomatic arrivals descended upon Swiss airfields as official delegations arrived for the crucial implementation negotiations of the newly signed United States–Iran Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Despite a brief delay due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, the diplomatic machinery has roared to life, converting Swiss runways into a logistical focal point for global peace efforts.
The high-security military airfield at Emmen became the focus of the American arrival. US Vice President JD Vance landed aboard a Gulfstream C-37B, operating under the executive callsign SAM030 (registration 20-1949). Vice President Vance is heading the American delegation to lead the technical talks aimed at solidifying the 14-point war-ending framework digitally executed by President Trump earlier in the week.
Shortly adjacent to the Vice President’s transport, a private Gulfstream G650ER (registration N103WG) also touched down in Emmen. On board were Trump administration special envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, who are playing a central role in the backchannel and economic architecture of the complex negotiations.
Simultaneously, the Iranian delegation initiated a multi-stage logistical deployment. The official Iranian aircraft, operating under the callsign IRAN03, initially landed at Zurich Airport. To position negotiators closer to key diplomatic centers, the aircraft subsequently repositioned to Geneva. The Iranian team, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has already transitioned to the Bürgenstock resort complex to begin bilateral sessions.
Crucial to the framework are the regional mediators. Pakistan, playing a primary mediating role alongside Qatar, deployed its contingent across multiple flights. The primary Pakistani delegation arrived in Zurich on board flight PAK2, while a secondary transport supporting the diplomatic mission, flight PA9834, also landed at Zurich Airport to complete the arrivals.
With all parties safely on Swiss soil under tight airspace restrictions enforced by the Swiss military, the delegations have converged on the Bürgenstock Resort in the canton of Nidwalden. Initial sessions are underway to salvage the fragile de-escalation roadmap amid unfolding maritime friction in the Strait of Hormuz.
