DUBAI, UAE – Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs, has been evacuated tonight following a direct hit from an Iranian “Shahed” kamikaze drone. The strike, which reportedly targeted Terminal 3.
The attack is part of a massive retaliatory wave launched by Iran against U.S. allies in the region, following joint U.S.-Israeli military strikes on Iranian territory earlier today.
Chaos at Terminal 3
Witnesses at the airport described scenes of panic as alarms blared and staff ordered thousands of passengers to flee the terminal buildings. Social media footage verified by news outlets shows thick smoke rising from the tarmac and debris scattered near duty-free areas.
Emergency services and Dubai Civil Defence are currently on-site battling fires. While the UAE Ministry of Defence stated that many incoming projectiles were intercepted by the country’s advanced air defense systems, shrapnel and at least one rogue drone managed to breach the perimeter of the airport.
Flights Grounded and Airspace Closed
Dubai Airports issued an emergency advisory urging all travelers to stay away from the vicinity. The suspension affects both Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC).
