Few minutes before landing, the crew of an Emirates A380 declared an emergency tonight due to a medical situation on board.

Manchester, UK – 16 September 2025 — Emirates Flight EK19, operating from Dubai to Manchester, declared an emergency while on approach to Manchester Airport this evening. The aircraft, an Airbus A380-800 requested and was granted priority landing clearance so that emergency medical teams could attend to a passenger in distress.

The crew notified air traffic control of the situation during final approach, prompting Manchester Airport’s emergency protocols to be activated. The superjumbo jet registered A6-EUN, landed safely on runway 23R and was met on the runway by paramedics and airport response units.

Medical staff boarded the aircraft immediately to assist the passenger, who was then transferred to a local hospital.

Operations at Manchester experienced minor adjustments to accommodate the priority arrival of the A380, but no significant disruption was reported.

Emirates’ A380 Fleet

Emirates operates the largest fleet of Airbus A380s in the world, with more than 120 of the double-deck superjumbos delivered over the past decade.

Typically configured to carry between 500 and 615 passengers depending on the variant, the Emirates A380 has been a cornerstone of the airline’s long-haul network to Europe, Asia, North America, and Australia. Despite the type’s retirement by other carriers, Emirates continues to invest in cabin refurbishments and upgrades, extending the service life of the fleet well into the 2030s.
