An Airbus A319 from London to Malaga returned to Gatwick Airport after the aircraft experienced a technical issue right after takeoff.

EasyJet flight U28071 departed London Gatwick airport today at 10:12 GMT, almost one hour late to Malaga in Spain.

The Airbus A319 (registered G-EZIY) took off from runway 26R then stopped the climb at 10,000 feet due to a hydraulic issue. A passenger on board said he heard a loud screeching noise after departure.

The flight circled during almost one hour, South of Gatwick to deal with the problem and burn fuel in order to reduce the weight prior landing back in London.

One hour and 3 minutes after takeoff, the aircraft landed back on 26R and was met by by fire engines after it vacated the runway.

Passengers disembarked at remote stand. The airline confirmed a technical issue and assigned a new aircraft. New departure is estimated at 12:15 local time but it will be delayed.
