A KLM Airbus A330 aircraft to Toronto turned around over Atlantic due to a maintenance issue.
The KLM flight KL691 departed Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Monday, June 16 2025 from runway 24, already more than one hour late.
The Airbus A330-300 (registration PH-AKA) climbed to a cruise altitude of 35,000 feet. But 3 hours into the flight, pilots decided to turn around, over middle of Atlantic, due to a maintenance issue.
“Literally mid-flight, we got the announcement that the plane they got was not supposed to fly and needed big maintenance that was due today,” a passenger on the plane commented on Reddit.
What was the maintenance issue?
The A330 aircraft departed 1,5 hour late due to an AC problem. We can imagine this issue was not totally solved.
As maintenance could not be made in Toronto, the airline decided to make flight KL691 to return to home base.
