Flight from Newark to Las Vegas was forced to return due to a mechanical issue.
United Airlines flight UA1544 departed Newark at 06:16 EST for a flight to Las Vegas.
The Boeing 757 with registration N48127 stopped the climb very low at only 3,000ft after pilots detected a technical issue with the 27 year-old aircraft.
in a statement that there were 176 passengers and six crew on board the flight when a potential mechanical issue occurred.
The 757 landed safely on runway 22L and taxied to the gate where all passengers deplaned normally.
“United flight 1544 to Las Vegas returned to Newark Liberty International Airport to address a possible mechanical issue,” the spokesperson said.
United provided passengers with a different aircraft to continue their travel to Las Vegas, the spokesperson said.
