A knife-wielding man shot dead by police at St. Louis Lambert Airport after refusing to drop the weapon during security checks.
One person was fatally shot during an officer-involved incident at St. Louis Lambert International Airport early Friday, local police confirmed.
According to authorities, the confrontation occurred around 1:05 a.m. in Terminal 1, where officers were performing routine security checks. During the patrol, they encountered an adult male armed with a knife.
Police say the man refused repeated commands to drop the weapon. One officer deployed a Taser, but the situation escalated, resulting in the fatal shooting.
The two officers involved have been with the St. Louis Lambert Airport police force for six months and one year, respectively, and both previously served in other law enforcement roles.
Investigators emphasized that the case remains active and that early information is subject to change as the inquiry continues.
