Cocaine was found stashed in a British Airways plane toilet by a service engineer at Gatwick.
A service engineer discovered £100,000 worth of cocaine concealed in the lavatory of a British Airways Boeing 777 during routine maintenance at Gatwick Airport.
The aircraft had recently arrived from Orlando, Florida, when the drugs were found hidden behind a panel in the lavatory. The engineer immediately alerted the police, prompting an investigation led by Border Force and the National Crime Agency.
According to a source, the block of cocaine was “well hidden” and intended to be collected later—possibly by someone with access to the aircraft. The source also suggested it was likely stashed by a member of staff.
This incident comes just a day after another British Airways Boeing 777, preparing to depart Cancun, Mexico, for London Gatwick, was delayed for 24 hours when local authorities discovered what appeared to be blocks of cocaine hidden in a suitcase on board.
