Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Atlanta is diverting to Manchester.
The Lufthansa flight #LH444 departed Frankfurt today at 10:45 CEST from terminal 1, gate Z64.
While cruising at 36,000 ft over Scotland, the crew contacted ATC and requested to divert due to on going issue on board.
After more than one hour into the flight, the Airbus A330-300 (registration D-AIKR) turned around towards Manchester.
The aircraft landed 30 minutes later on runway 23R and taxied to the terminal.
The airline is confirming the diversion but no giving the reason at this time.
According to @FlightEmergency the flight #LH444 diverted to MAN due to smoke alert.
A new departure is scheduled for 1:00pm from Manchester.
